S47 Episode 2: Spoiler Alert!!

Image
Episode two was filled with more developing storylines and emerging characters, but my thoughts are consumed by the episode title, "Epic Boss Girl Move." Am I the only one who was bothered by this obvious spoiler alert?  Was it a done deal that Tiyana would vote as she did? No. But as the challenge unfolded, I knew that Tuku wouldn't come from behind, and I fully expected the episode to end as it did. Interesting decision from the production team....  Takeaways Rome proved to be a character that you will either love or hate. He's playing hard, found an idol, and is incredibly positive, so he should be someone you want to keep around. However, his cockiness and loquacious personality are getting on people's nerves. If he didn't know this while on the island, I wonder how he feels watching it from home. I was incredibly uncomfortable watching Gata babysit Andy (Not Austin), and I was embarrassed for him as he cut coconuts to the cheers of his tribe. Anika desc...

S47 Episode 1: You Are Playing Survivor!

Tipped boats & found idols & a meltdown, oh my!  This was a great first episode, with some alliances forming early and others taking big risks. It started with an interesting observation: Jeff has started the show for the past two seasons by talking to the tribes about the game's complexity. Takeaways In the opening challenge, they showed Jeff at the starting/finishing line, then showed him in the jungle with the puzzle pieces. This means he was running back and forth (at least once, anyway). Props to you, Jeff! Way to keep those calves in shape! I loved how the tribes had to pick a ...

Season 47 Preview

Welcome to Season 47 of Survivor, the greatest show in the 1000-year history of television!  Let's start with the obvious, I moved to a new blogging platform. Blogger is far more intuitive with a more reactive framework, and its sophisticated encryption process is groundbreaking.  I have no idea if any of that is true; I Googled adjectives about technology. Basically, Blogger is easier and cheaper than that other platform. Why do I love Survivor? Primarily, I love the human dynamics involved in each game and decision. Who do you trust? Who do you cut loose and when? How do you respond to people you don't like when deprived of sleep and food? And all of this is done through the lens of complete strangers who bring their own strengths, challenges, experiences, and perspectives, so each game is completely different. Throw in physical competitions, building shelter (I'm pretty sure I could make a hut ala Gilligan's Island), starvation, and a million dollars, and that's ...
